Walls, ceilings, floors, stairs, plaster!

It’s really starting to look like a house (well at least a building).

Here I am standing in what will be the master bedroom.  This room will have views both to my back and over my right shoulder.  The adobe on the wall under me will be visible from the living/dining space as will the volcanic stone at the base.  This is just to add a touch of traditional Mexican construction on the inside.

We now have a completed, if crude, staircase all the way to the second floor.  The stairwell will have one wall of red brick.  To the right of the brick will be a large window looking west over the cliffs and town (well, and the neighbour's too).

They have started to plaster over the interior walls.  There will be in an initial coat (what you see here) and then a finer coat at the end.  We’ll leave all the plastered walls white for the time being but may add some colour later.  This is looking west out of the kitchen.  The stove will go in the middle with a built-in microwave over top and cupboards on either side of the windows.
The stone wall around the parking area is also almost finished.  There will also be a storage room at that level for “stuff”.  There will be two staircases going up to the terrace.  You can’t see the one on the left.  The one on the right curves around to the top.

We're going back on Easter weekend when expect (hope) to have a second floor.

Watch this space.

  1. Grand progress! Love all the natural colours, different bricks, stone work & plaster. All that labour intentive detailed work being put into the structure will for sure make your new home last millennia! All coming together!

  2. It's June! It was looking pretty cool in March. When are we going to see new pics? Can't wait for the grand reveal in November when I visit.
